Southwest Virginia has always been a stronghold of small, family farms. Due to the mountainous terrain, large factory farms have not been able to take hold here. The tradition of small and medium farm-holdings puts us at Local Roots in the position of having a large number of area farms and farmers to draw from when purchasing our fresh produce and animal proteins. We know where everything we serve comes from, who grew it and how. We are the richer for the congenial relationships we foster with our suppliers be they produce, livestock , or dairy farmers or fish and seafood purveyors. With the network of farmers and suppliers we cultivate, we strive to strengthen our local community, its citizens and the earth.
